Glass

As a result of its partnership with British Glass, Q1tum can justifiably claim to know a thing or two about UK Glass PLC.

The industry, in common with many others, has witnessed rapid change over the last few years. Growing competition, increased legislative burden and extensive consolidation within the industry has led to a sector that has to come to terms with life in the 21st century.

Q1tum has been fortunate to work in partnership with a number of glass-related organisations over the last few years. Services have ranged from health and safety programmes through to supervisory/management courses facilitated predominantly on an in-house basis.

In addition, Q1tum has played a major part in a number of DTI- sponsored initiatives targeted at the glass industry.

Construction

In April 2002, the HSE launched a new Construction Division with an increased number of dedicated construction inspectors. Future plans include 'construction blitzes' in different parts of the country in a bid to cut down on the unacceptable toll of deaths, injuries and ill health on badly managed sites.

Q1tum has a wealth of experience in the provision of health and safety training and consultancy support with in the construction industry and as a result aims to help contractors and clients avoid becoming part of these statistics for a fraction of the cost of non-compliance.

We are CITB & MCG approved and Investors In People accredited. All instructors are highly experienced, qualified and committed to providing structured training designed to build confidence, develop skills and to promote safe working practices.

Services range from short one-day generic through to tailored client-specific programmes. Most Q1tums courses are CITB Grant approved; therefore significant savings are available.

Support Agencies

Back in 2001 it was recognised by a group of local agencies involved in the Construction Industry in the West Midlands, that the scale of planned developments over the coming decade in the Birmingham and Solihull sub-region would lead to a massive increase in the number of people working in the sector. It was recognised immediately that to support this kind of development the number of people in the local area who were skilled or semi-skilled construction workers would need to be increased and local businesses would need support in terms of both their recruitment and training needs. From this the Construction Employment Alliance (CEA) was born.

The key agencies involved in the project include Solihull MBC, Construction Industry Training Board, Job Centre Plus, Birmingham City Council and the local Learning and Skills Council.
